Network Rail Brings Engineering In-House21 January 2008 15:46 UK rail company Network Rail is to cut agency engineering contractors in a bid to exert greater control over rail projects. Following engineering overruns at Rugby and London Liverpool Street stations over Christmas and New Year, the company has announced a series of measures to prevent future delays. The measures include increasing in-house capability in key specialist engineering disciplines, particularly for overhead line work. In a statement issued today, Network Rail says it will work with Kent-based company Elec-Track Installations, who are specialist supervisors for the installation of overhead electrical equipment.
