UK Introduces New Rules For Freight Goods

17 January 2008 17:29

A new software system for declaring cross-border freight goods is only a few days away from implementation in the UK.

It is hoped the new SAD Harmonisation system (SAD-H), which has recently been revised and simplified, will be implemented by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

One of the main developers of the software, Agency Sector Management (ASM), released a version of the system last year to familiarise user with new codes and procedures.

ASM says it "welcomes" the new simplified version of the software and the process by which freight agents will be required to fill in the electronic goods declaration forms.

Freight companies have to migrate to the new SAD-H system by the midnight on 20 January 2008.
