Deutsche Bahn Close To Wage Agreement

14 January 2008 17:24

German rail company Deutsche Bahn says it is in the final stages of wage negotiations with train drivers' union GDL, following months of strikes.

The new deal will raise wages by 11 percent, agree a one-off payment of €800 and will reduce rail drivers' shifts by one hour after February 2009, according to local reports.

Talks begun in November last year after GDL called for a 31 percent wage increase and a separate contract for drivers from other rail staff.
