Zenitel Lands Two Rail Radio Contracts

12 November 2007 16:00

Global communication provider Zenitel has landed two contracts providing radio communication systems for the Danish rail network and the world's deepest road tunnel in Norway.

Working with Danish Net Rail (BaneDanmark), Zenitel Denmark AS will provide radio infrastructure, operations and maintenance services for its traffic information systems located on railway stations nationwide.

The kr44m (US$8.6m) contract covers BaneDanmark’s traffic information systems, monitors, loudspeakers and clocks together with connected IT-systems.

Zenitel will also equip Norway’s Eiksundsambandet tunnel - which is 287m under water - with radio installations.

The installation has been designed to provide commuters with full FM radio coverage and rapid communication for emergency situations, Zenitel says.

The communication system also includes an alarm and surveillance, which alerts the road traffic centre about any irregularities.

Both contracts are due to commence in January 2008.
