Network Rail Prepares to Erect Prefab Station

06 November 2007 15:24

UK rail operator Network Rail is preparing to erect its first prefabricated station as it seeks to cut construction costs and speed up new station development.

The new Eastfields station, including platforms and canopy, will be assembled near Mitcham in the London borough of Merton in the New Year.

The prefabs kits take 36 days to erect and can also be used to upgrade existing stations which would otherwise require expensive renovations.
