German Train Drivers Call More Strikes

The German train drivers' union (GDL) will strike on Thursday and Friday, escalating its wage dispute with national rail operator Deutsche Bahn, according to German news reports.

The strikes are expected to affect regional trains and urban commuter services from Thursday through to Friday, according to GDL.

A series of one-day strikes caused millions of commuter delays across the country this month.

Long-distance intercity trains and freight trains will not be affected.

GDL, which represents about 34,000 train drivers, is seeking pay rises of up to 31% and an independent collective labour agreement.
