GDL Rejects New Pay Offer

German train drivers' union (GDL), which has been carrying out strikes on the nation's rail network over the last few months, has rejected an improved pay offer from German rail operator Deutsche Bahn.

"We can see nothing fundamentally new about this offer," head of GDL Manfred Schell told Reuters.

GDL, which represents about 12,000 train drivers, originally sought a 31% pay increase, but has been prepared over the last few weeks to negotiate on the terms.

The union says it is prepared to resume talks with Deutsche Bahn.
