Japan Push to Start Work on Indian Rail

The Japan Bank of International Cooperation (JBIC) has asked Indian rail officials to take up the construction of a freight project before the survey work for other lines has been conducted, according to Indian news sources.

The Japanese agency has prioritised the Delhi-Mumbai western corridor freight project believing it to be more commercially viable than other Indian rail projects.

Indian Railway Ministry officials say that they will be studying the suggestions before replying to the JBIC.
