UK Consortium Calls for Review to Claw Back Cost of Tube

22 June 2007 16:11

UK-based private consortium Metronet Rail has called for an "Extraordinary Review" to recover its "significant costs" on its ongoing project for the upgrade of the London Tube Underground network.

Metronet, which is responsible for the renewal of the Bakerloo, Central, Victoria, and Waterloo & City lines, issued a statement saying in the first four years of the contract the costs of Metronet Rail BCV have been considerably higher than anticipated.

Metronet said in the first phase of the process, and in line with the directions of the PPP Service Contract, Metronet and London Underground will consult for a period of up to ten business days with a view to agreeing the form and conduct of the Extraordinary Review.

A further detailed announcement, including details of the costs Metronet intends to recover from London Underground, will be made at the end of the consultation period.
