Cape Town Bomb Scare Causes Havoc on City Train Lines

A bomb scare in the heart of Cape Town's Metrorail train network left thousands of rail commuters stranded across the city on Wednesday.

A spokeswoman for Metrorail, Riana Scott, announced that the train services were resumed just before 10am after police had declared train lines were now "safe" and were running "smoothly".

Metrorail is offering a R25,000 reward for anyone with any details that could lead to the arrest of the culprit.

Scott said they had "no choice but to stop the trains" during peak hour on Wednesday morning. Trains on the northern railway lines between Cape Town and Wellington came to a complete halt at about 7.30am.

Metrorail announced that stations in the northern suburbs of Cape Twon such as Wellington, Paarl, Bellville, Kraaifrontein, Brackenfell, and Stikland were also affected.
