AECOM and Parson JV Wins UAE Rail Management Contract

AECOM Technology, in a joint venture (JV)with Parsons, has won a contract from Etihad Rail to manage a project for the United Arab Emirates national railway.

Under the contract the JV will act as the programme and construction manager to implement the first phase of the project and design the subsequent two phases.

The Etihad Rail project will add a 1,200km freight and passenger rail network across the UAE's seven emirates, starting with a route linking the gas fields of Shah and Habshan to Ruwais in Abu Dhabi.

The Etihad Rail project will be one of the first links in the overall $100bn GCC rail programme, which will connect the UAE with Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain.

The financial details of the contract have not been disclosed.
