Malaysia’s MyHSR will appoint the Final Survey Consultants (FSCs) for the Kuala Lumpr – Singapore High Speed Rail (LK-SG HSR) project on 9 March.

The company, which is wholly owned by the Minister of Finance Incorporated, will call for a tender that will feature six packages, three of which are reserved for local Bumiputera firms.

Companies registered with Malaysia’s Ministry of Finance as well as individual licensed land surveyor registered with the Land Surveyors Board of Malaysia can participate in the tender.

The selected FSCs are expected to carry out land survey and offer land administration support for the land acquisition process for the KL-SG HSR project within Malaysia.

Once the railway scheme for the KL-SG HSR project is approved, the identified land will be acquired by the Government of Malaysia as per the Section 8 of Land Acquisition Act 1960 (Act 486).

The land acquisition application is scheduled to begin in June this year, while the first strip of the acquired land will be used to develop infrastructure such as stations, maintenance facilities and tunnel portals.

“Land acquisition is a critical activity for the project and has significant impact to the overall delivery of the KL-SG HSR project.”

Development of the KL-SG HSR project will be carried out by the Governments of Malaysia and Singapore, with the aim to reduce travel time between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore to 90 minutes.

The project includes various domestic services to improve intercity connectivity in Malaysia and promote economic agglomeration under the Socio-economic Development Programme (SEDP) that seeks to benefit local communities along the corridor.

It will be built under a bilateral agreement signed between the two governments in December 2016.
