Bellingham Engineering - Structural and Mechanical Engineering Design, Fabrication and Installation Services

Bellingham Engineering is a design, fabrication and installation business specialising in structural and mechanical engineering. We have been trading since 1970, and have grown to become a reliable and professional company in our field. We are situated in Sydney; our main office and fabrication workshop is located in Narellan.

We have the capacity to complete jobs of varying size, from the very small to the large. This increases the commercial viability of the company, strengthening our long-term position in the engineering industry.

Structural steel, general and mechanical engineering expertise

Our clientele has grown significantly to encompass a vast cross-section of industry, with many different engineering requirements in structural steel, general and mechanical engineering. We owe our success to providing a high quality service at a reasonable price.

Our factory personnel consist of three fitters and nine boilermakers, and our two experienced site crews hold the following certificates:

  • OHS construction induction training certificate (blue and green cards)
  • Track safety awareness
  • Workcover certificates: class C2 – crane ticket, class DG – dogman ticket, class LF – forklift ticket, class RB – riggers ticket, and class WP – work elevators platform ticket

Quality assured control welding

We can provide high quality welding services. Weld quality is controlled through the structural standards AS1554 parts 1 to 6 and AWS D1.1, and our third-party inspectorate ERG Consulting.

On receipt of drawings from customers, weld procedure specifications are selected for submission or procedures are written for qualification and submission. All our welders are qualified to use those procedures required by the respective standard.

Automation train control system, wiring and switchboards

Our electrical contractor, TEC Solutions, employs six staff and is able to produce an advanced automation control system with the use of programmable logic controllers (PLC) and a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system.

They can also provide all field wiring and supply of main switchboards and motor control switchboards, as was demonstrated at the Cairns tilting train maintenance facility in Brisbane, Australia.

Mechanical contracted design office

Our mechanical contracted design office, T&S Bates, currently has a staff of three engineers and five draftsmen fully conversant with AutoCAD and Inventor solid modelling.

They specialise in designing lift equipment to AS1418, with experience in designing cranes, jacking and haulage systems for the rail industry as well as material handling systems. Additional services include:

  • Dangerous goods licences
  • Environmental impact statements
  • SEPP33 reports
  • Design of specialised lifting equipment

Our design office possesses the latest software and hardware facilities and has the capacity to quickly generate and provide concept drawings, sketches, project schedules and full-size manufacturing drawings.

Conveyors, stackers, elevators and elevator towers

We have consistently contracted to Graincorp Operations on large and small projects including fabrication and installation of conveyors, stackers, elevators and elevator towers. These projects are subject to critical time and budget frameworks and Bellingham has a 100% completion rate within these frameworks.

Structural steelwork, architectural steelwork and architectural metalwork

We also have vast experience in the construction industry. We have completed structural steelwork, architectural steelwork and architectural metalwork for a variety of projects.

Our ability to converse with architects, builders, consultants and other trade areas has been demonstrated by the below projects, all costing over $1 million, in which we have been involved:

  • GrainCorp Operations - conveyor, elevator and plant upgrades
  • Queensland Rail Services - Mayne service facility (bogie wheel change-out system and 10t bogie lift and rotator system)
  • National Ceramics – tile plant at Rutherford (silos and conveyors)
  • Queensland Rail - tilting train maintenance facility at Cairns
  • Queensland Rail - elevating / retracting platforms at the Redbank facility

Turnkey engineering design and installation

Bellingham Engineering has the expertise to design, fabricate and install a project to completion. With our experienced mobile site installers, we can install projects anywhere. Our installers are keen and willing to work extended hours (including weekends and public holidays) to complete projects on time.

Together with our contracted design office and electrical contractor, we believe in working closely with our customers and offer our engineering and project management experience to assist with your plant improvements, from R&M work through to turnkey capital projects. This work extends to engineering design, feasibility studies and upgrade work (engineering, budget costing, preparation of project documents, etc.).

Our design team has a quality system and is credited to AS/NZS ISO 9001:1994, licence number QEC4733.
