Vortok Safety Barrier Saves Life

11 June 2003 16:43

Recently, the Vortok Safety Fencing that was set up to protect staff working in the Great Western area where it possibly saved a man’s life.

The Amey-SECO track worker tripped when his boot laces caught in an exposed wire and he fell towards the fence just as a train was passing. The rigid Vortok fence caught him and saved him from falling closer to, or even under the train.

The fence was correctly attached to the open line with the horizontal blue poles attached to the uprights such that as the track worker fell he was gently bounced into the safe area away from danger.

Vortok congratulates Mark Lewis of Amey-SECO for setting up a safe system of work that has saved a potentially serious incident.

The Vortok Safety Fence did exactly what it is designed to do – keep track workers safe.
