BALANCING MACHINE FOR RAILROAD WHEELS

Schenck RoTec developed a machine that is capable of supporting and accurately performing an unbalance measurement run on heavy railway wheels. The Schenck model CBWH is a 1,600kg capacity machine (including tooling).

MEASURING SYSTEM

The Schenck RoTec measuring system is the patented Quadraflex, a non-rotating unit. The measuring cycle establishes the static unbalance and displays it on a CRT screen.

The correction is done external to the machine. To that effect, the data can be transferred from the measuring PC to the correction mechanism at a customer facility.

LOADING MECHANISM

A heavy-duty lift table that lowers the part gently and accurately onto the clamping fixture performs the loading of the wheels on to the tooling.

The lift table is also available with power driven rollers.

TOOLING

Schenck RoTec delivers the machines with an outside clamping chuck as a standard. The tooling can be changed to meet customer requirements, and use the Pilot Internal Diameter (ID) for clamping.

DELIVERED MACHINES

Schenck RoTec has delivered multiple machines which are in operation at this time. Four further machines are in process for delivery in early 2007, and other orders are pending.

Schenck RoTec has also built horizontal balancing machines to handle complete bogie assemblies.

Our in-house balancing service uses the latest Schenck technology to provide reliable, cost-effective operation for virtually any size rotor. A wide variety of machines are available that can accommodate short runs for prototype development and overhaul applications to large-scale production runs.
