MER MEC Diagnostic Solutions Chosen for Rome Metro

Following the successful delivery of diagnostic solutions to Metro de Madrid, Rome Metro will rely on MER MEC technology as well.
"Met.Ro Spa - Metropolitana di Roma" is the company that manages the public transportation service of Roman Underground as well as the Latium regional railways connecting Rome to the cities of Ostia Lido, Pantano, and Viterbo. Met.Ro Roma S.p.A. manages around 188 Km of lines and guarantees over 1,500 daily trips allowing almost a million people to move around, safely and speedily, in Rome and Latium region.
MER MEC electronic systems and software applications will be used for enabling a more integrated, disciplined and innovative approach to the inspection process of the Rome Metro infrastructure and allow on-condition first-class maintenance and renewal practices.
A subway vehicle, MA 100, revamped under MER MEC design and equipped with the MER MEC diagnostic systems will check the Rome Metro underground network from end to end, measuring, analysing and storing billion of data describing operative condition of every single piece of the infrastructure. The whole network's status will be derived from those information allowing intelligent planning of all the present and future intervention eventually required.
The multi-diagnostic vehicle will integrate several measuring solutions that will allow accurate inspection and measurement of track - geometrical parameter, rail profile, rail corrugation, video inspection of track with automatic detection of defects - overhead line - geometrical parameters, contact wire wear, video inspection of the overhead line with automatic detection of defects - and ride quality. Moreover, MER MEC will provide to Rome Metro, based on a 2-year contract, professional services such as maintenance assistance, data management and measuring campaign support.
