China's railway industry is becoming a hotspot for investment and a huge market for engineering. According to the 11th five-year plan, China's railway will build 17.000 km of new lines including 7,000 km for passenger express line of which 4464 Km are high speed lines (maximun speed higher 300 Km/h).
In 2007, many railways are to be constructed, such as Lanyu Railway, Nanjiang Railway, Hongshenxi coal railway. China RailWorld Summit 2007 has been jointly organized by the Center for Traffic Technology Development and Planning Institute of Comprehensive Transportation of NDRC, PRC, and the China Decision Makers Consultancy (CDMC), and is officially supported by the Chinese Ministry of Railway and the National Development and Reform Commission.
