Rail-Tech® Europe 2007 will be held on the 27 - 29 March at Royal Dutch Jaarbeurs Utrecht, The Netherlands. MER MEC will be present at Rail-Tech Europe 2007 with a study about latest research on track quality monitoring. Europe will run parallel with a seminar programme covering such subjects as track and rolling stock maintenance, safety, information systems and interoperability.
Started in 1997, this exposition, with over 150 participants and an estimated 6,000 visitors, will this year be again a key meeting place for the industry, and a shop window for innovative thinking.
MER MEC will be present at the event during Seminar 1: Maintenance of High-Speed Track. Stasha Jovanovic, MER MEC project manager for Railway Asset Management SYStem (RAMSYS) will present his study titled: "Track Quality Monitoring and Decision Support". The presentation is the result of a study about latest research on track quality monitoring.
The paper discusses various condition-monitoring techniques and their optimal utilization for Railway Infrastructure Asset Management Systems (RI-AMS) purposes, as well as the main RI-AMS sub-systems and activities they are supposed to handle. The paper is based on evidence that the Maintenance and Renewal (M&R) of railway networks requires significant investments, so that even marginal improvements in the efficiency of the maintenance management can yield large absolute savings.
Understanding the manner in which the condition of every single railway infrastructure element changes makes it possible to predict its behaviour in the future, paving the way for predictive-preventive M&R planning, bringing large cost-savings, which is one of the main purposes of RAMSYS.
