MER MEC To Develop an Integrated Industrial Pole for the Aerospace

On December 12th, the Consortium Sud Space, of which MER MEC is an active associate, signed a contract for the development of an integrated industrial pole with the Apulia Region and the Ministry of the Economic Development.
This industial integrated pole will be able to offer value-added products and services in the field of aerospace technologies, and earth applications of original aerospace products and data. The pole will be made up of several production units, linked up with every proposing enterprise, and operating in a synergic way from both the technological and the market points of view, but with management modalities characterized by the autonomy of each business.
MER MEC specific activities will aim at three fronts:
- An investment program aimed at the enlargement of the company technological instrumentations
- A plan of precompetitive research and development, entitled Satellite Positioning System of the Railway Lines, regarding the development of railway vehicles localization system, based on GPS technology
- A training plan for the company's resources
The virtual factory for the aerospace products and services proposed by Sud Space, in line with the increase of the regions' role in the planning of the investment and within a program of definition of the innovation strategies, aims at realising a specialised regional industrial sector able to throw lustre and competitiveness into the field of high technology.
