RAIL AND TRACK MEASUREMENTS

Mer Mec innovative track measuring systems adopt no-contact optoelectronic technologies. They can be installed on any railway car (locomotive, passenger coach, freight wagon, dedicated vehicle). Systems are provided with software for real-time or off-line (unattended systems) data processing and analysis. They operate in all weather conditions at speeds up to 350km/h. Mer Mec's patented OverHead Line (OHL) equipments represent state-of-the-art technology in no-contact systems for contact wire's wear and geometry measurements. They can be installed on any railway cars, can operate in all weather conditions at speeds up to 350km/h and are provided with software application for real-time / off-line data processing and analysis. RIDE QUALITY MEASUREMENTS

Ride quality is an important analysis for both vehicle safety and passengers' comfort. The study of interaction forces acting between wheels and rails, such as oscillatory motion affecting the vehicle or asymmetric wear pattern affecting the wheel tread profile, has been introduced to evaluate risk of derailment, level of comfort offered on-board and to ensure rolling stock achieves full service life potential. Mer Mec offers a set of different systems specifically developed for railway needs:

  • Wheel-rail interaction - lateral and vertical forces acted by the wheel on the rail
  • Vehicle accelerations
  • Wheel-rail contact - angles of contact and equivalent conicity
  • Wheel-profile

RAMSYS - RAILWAY ASSET MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Mer Mec's "Railway Asset Management SYStem - RAMSYS" is a highly modular software solution designed to support enhanced data analysis for optimised maintenance and renewal planning.

RAMSYS integrates the diagnostic and the planning phases, by effectively integrating the data collected by measurements with other relevant planning data (infrastructural, statistical, work history, traffic, economical, etc.). RAMSYS collects and processes all data relevant to the condition analysis and planning and presents a set of intervention scenarios. Then an optimised maintenance and renewal plan can be selected according to a set of traffic and budget constraints.
