TÜV SÜD Rail focuses on delivering high-quality assessment service in the field of rail-automation (signalling technology, control technology, generic automation-systems, etc.), rail-borne vehicles and rail infrastructure. Through synergies with the TÜV SÜD group and co-operation with third parties, TÜV SÜD Rail is in the position to install either new components or complete rail systems, maintaining them throughout their entire life-cycle. Our services can be applied to all kinds of railways, from city tramways and metro systems, through to high-speed trains and the Transrapid. ASSESSMENT OF RAILWAY SYSTEMSWe aim to spot potential problems and avoid them. Otherwise, we are experts at assessing rail systems to locate problems. Our rail assessment includes concept analysis, development support testing, examination and damage assessment, conformity assessment and certification. We also carry out assessment of railway systems, including signalling technology, infrastructure, vehicle operation and maintenance. TÜV SÜD Rail also offers engineering support, including services such as acceptance management, risk and hazard analysis (qualitative and quantitative), verification and validation, FMEA, fault tree analysis, simulation and calculation, RAMS management, and audits. RAIL AUTOMATIONTÜV SÜD Rail provides a range of services in the field of rail automation. We can carry out qualitative (FMEA) and quantitative analyses (Markov, FTA), and concept analysis (architecture and development process). We can also assess safety and functional acceptance (according to EN 5012x e.g. IEC 61508), and conformity according to the 96/48/EG, 01/16/EG and 98/37/EG EU directives. Our rail automation services also include the following:
ASSESSMENT OF RAIL INFRASTRUCTUREWe carry out reliable assessments of your rail infrastructure. This can include derailment assessment, damage assessment such as track faults, simulation of track layout stability, assessment of elevated building structures and bridge structures, and assessment of maintenance procedures. We also provide testing and certification of track components (e.g. track lubrication systems), and compilation and assessment of fire protection concepts (e.g. railway stations, factories, tunnels). RAIL VEHICLE ASSESSMENTAn important factor in keeping railway is the regular assessment of rail vehicles. TÜV SÜD Rail examines braking technology, static and dynamic structural strength, and aspects of the railcar such as mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrics and electronics. We can advise on personal safety concepts including fire protection, evacuation and work protection, as well as control technology, radio remote controls, and train, brake and door controls. The functional safety and reliability of rail systems – particularly in elements such as fire detection and air-conditioning – is tested and damage and cause analysis is carried out. SECURING INTEROPERABILITY OF RAIL TRAFFIC SYSTEMSThrough our designated company, Railcert B.V. (a shared subsidiary of Movares Nederland B.V. and TÜV SÜD Rail) and our national partnership as associated designated interoperability partners (EBC) of the Federal-Railway-Office (EBA), we can competently solve all tasks related to securing the interoperability of rail traffic systems in accordance with the European Union guidelines.
