French Region of Brittany orders CORADIA regional trains from ALSTOM
The contract is valued at 66 million euros. Additionally, four identical trains are on option.
The electric multiple units, designated TER Z 21500 by the SNCF, are part of ALSTOM’s CORADIA range of regional trains.
The three-car trains will have a capacity of 211 seated places and can operate at up to 200 kilometers per hour, offering high levels of passenger comfort.
This new order is financed by the Region of Brittany and will run on rail lines linking the cities of Rennes, Brest, Quimper, Nantes, Laval and Le Mans. With this order, a total of 35 trains of this type have been ordered by the SNCF for various Regions of France. They are 'Centre' and later 'Pays-de-la-Loire', 'Poitou-Charentes' and 'Aquitaine'.
The vehicles for Brittany will be built at ALSTOM’s unit in Aytré/La Rochelle (FR). They will be delivered end 2003 and will enter in commercial service in beginning 2004.
