Pittsburgh, PA, October 23, 2006 - Union Switch & Signal Inc. (US&S) has deployed the next generation of railroad dispatching software to CSX Transportation (CSXT).

The CSXT installations began in January 2004 and phase two was completed in July 2006. For CSXT, this deployment represents the completion of the first two of four phases in a migration from their existing systems to the Next Generation Dispatching system. This major deployment to CSXT incorporates state of the art features in CSXT's dispatching operations and provides interconnectivity to the control centers in Florida, Illinois, and the former Conrail offices in Indiana and New York.

This system represents a single, integrated train control system with advanced train and track authority features and integrated security features. These features enable distributed dispatching operations which provide CSXT with the capability to manage train operations from any one of the dispatching centers.

Installation of this state of the art dispatching software for the railroad will contribute to increases in Dispatcher efficiency as well as system availability.

US&S worked as a strategic partner with CSXT to ensure a migration strategy that would reduce the risks in such a large undertaking. US&S worked very closely with CSXT during the deployment of the sophisticated software resulting in a successful cutover.
