Union Switch & Signal CEO Kenneth R Burk Resigns. Board approves Emmanuel Viollet as interim CEO
Union Switch & Signal Inc has announced that Kenneth R Burk will leave his position as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective July 31, 2007. Mr Burk will be pursuing opportunities in the engineering and construction industry. Mr Burk has served US&S as CEO since February 2001 and has led the company to a leadership position in the global transportation signaling and communications industry.
During Mr Burk's tenure US&S has undertaken cutting edge rail control projects in the areas of communications based train control, driverless train control, optimizing traffic planning for railroad dispatch and positive train control; all of which are critically important to rail customers in the areas of safety and improved operating effectiveness.
Sergio De Luca, CEO of Ansaldo STS, US&S' parent company, stated, "We would like to wish Ken Burk the very best in his new endeavors and to thank him. He has done an outstanding job building the company to be the leader it is today."
A search is underway for a new President and CEO. The Board of Directors of Ansaldo STS named Emmanuel Viollet as interim CEO. Mr Viollet has spent many years working for Ansaldo Signal in various business development and engineering roles and he is at present Senior Vice President, Business Development of Ansaldo STS.
