Sitec is the UK's leading independent provider of rail signalling testing and commissioning services. Founded in 1999, Sitec operates on a national basis across the UK. Headquartered in Chippenham, recent growth in the business has been strong, reflecting both the increase in Network Rail infrastructure spending and the current skills gap in the sector, and turnover for the year ending June 2006 was £11m.

TRAIN CONTROL SYSTEMS DESIGN

Sitec is an independent organisation providing a design and testing service for railway signalling and train control systems which has enjoyed tremendous success in recent years due to an increase in infrastructure spend from Network Rail. This trend is set to continue, and Sitec is optimistic about the role it will play in the future as the company addresses a skills gap in the industry.

Motivated by the successes of recent years, Sitec is ambitious to grow still further in the rail environment. The vision is that by 2010 Sitec will be the UK's preferred provider of rail signalling and control system consultancy, design, testing and commissioning services in the UK. RAILWAY SIGNALLING ENGINEERS TRAINING

Sitec employs approximately 65 people, the majority of whom are skilled railway signalling engineers. Sitec invests in the development of the workforce to be able to deal with the ever-growing demands for new technology and developments within the rail infrastructure. Sitec appreciates a need to boost this core of people with a new breed of young and talented employees.

Sitec establishes unique partnerships in order to gain access to extra resource pools by taking young workers straight from school, investing in them and encouraging them to meet their potential within the industry. They pass through a development programme and are trained to the highest level of signalling testing, commissioning and design.

TRAIN CONTROL SYSTEMS COMMISSIONING

Sitec is also looking to grow all of its business lines, such as project management, signalling consultancy, signalling design and signalling testing and commissioning. Combined with experience with cutting-edge signalling technology, this aim will take Sitec to the top end of the supply chain.

RAIL SIGNALLING TESTING

Sitec has quickly established a name for itself in the rail sector and can count Network Rail, signalling suppliers, and the Sector A and C contractors amongst its large list of clients. Crucially, Sitec is an Institute of the Railway Signalling Engineers (IRSE) Licensing Assessing Agent, meaning it can not only test, commission and design signalling equipment, but also help other companies in the sector meet their IRSE licensing needs.
