Power-One - Locomotive Power Systems and Supplies

Power-One manufactures extremely robust electrical and mechanical designs that have allowed us to provide a broad range of railway and rugged products. We have established a proven track record of industry-leading reliability, in a wide range of transportation, communications and industrial infrastructure applications.

Power-One's designs cover a broad range of industrial, communications, rugged and rail applications, with DC-DC converters, AC-DC power systems, DC-AC inverter modules, DIN-rail power supplies, board mounted, cassette style converters, 19in rack power supplies and customised assemblies, specific to each unique customer requirement.

RUGGED RAIL POWER SYSTEMS AND SUPPLIES

Power-One rugged and rail products have ultra-wide temperature ranges and accept wide input voltage ranges, giving multi-output voltages, compliant with all relevant EN and RIA standards. They also offer a high level of isolation and protection from transients, inrush current, etc with overload protection, superb EMC performance and vibration withstand.

Products can also be offered as fully RoHS compliant. These are low-maintenance devices due to rigorous standards in design and high-quality production, including conformal coating / varnish and high MTBF values.

POWER SUPPLIES FOR RAIL SIGNALLING, TICKET AND DISPLAY SYSTEMS

Power-One has field-proven products, with a product history spanning over 30 years, for a diverse range of rolling-stock, locomotive, trackside and static power applications.

Applications exist in track-side and station applications such as control, signalling, communication, ticket machines, CCTV and information displays and all train types, freight rolling stock, metro / underground, light rail and passenger networks.

Examples of applications that currently utilise Power-One products include air conditioning, passenger information signs, cab radio, battery chargers, braking systems, wi-fi / passenger wireless, communications, fire detection and alarms, on-board computers and ballast control back-up.

Our custom product capabilities range from low-wattage solutions, such as power systems for onboard lighting and HVAC digital motor control, to train-wide 65kW auxiliary power converters.

These products have nominal inputs of 12V, 24V, 36V, 48V, 52V, 60V, 72V, 110VDC and 220 VDC, and global AC, to suit the requirements of different national standards.

EUROCASSETTE POWER SUPPLIES

No derating is required due to the thermal design (originally from Melcher) of our products. They are self-cooling via conduction and convection, eliminating the requirement of forced air. AC and DC (up to 10:1 ratio) input versions are available. Eurocassettes are available in 50W M-series, 100W S-series, 250W K-series, 100W Q-series, 150W P-series and 500W T-series. These can be rack mounted in series or parallel to give higher power. Output ranges are adjustable from 0V to 96V with one, two or three outputs.

Power-One products are fully compliant with IEC60571, EN50155, EN50121-3-2, BRB RIA 12, 13, 18 and 20, and EN60950.

BOARD AND DIN-RAIL MOUNTED POWER SUPPLIES

Our board mounted products are available both isolated and non-isolated, and demonstrate high efficiency for positive switching regulators. They have a power output up to 80W with no derating. Input range goes from 8V to 150VDC, single and dual outputs for IMX4, IMX7, IMX15 and quad outputs in the IMX35 series. Output ranges from 3.3V to 60V. Further options include RoHS and SMT models.

Mainly as battery chargers, drives and fans, single or dual outputs up to 500W in the W and X series.

DC TO AC POWER INVERTERS

Power-One inverters convert the readily available DC supply on a train to AC power, used for powering items such as fluorescent lamps and consumer devices.

Power-One custom products include static converters for auxiliary power supply, battery chargers, drivers for power supply and control of HVAC systems among others. Power, size and lay-out customisation based on customer needs up to 65kW (depending on product family), compliant with EN 50121-1, 50121-3-2, 50153, 50155, 50311, 55015, 60081 and 60901, and IEC 571 and 1376.
