LIVE, REAL-TIME, TWO-WAY TRAIN VIDEOThe Nomad on-train remote security video system offers video analysis tools such as facial recognition, to identify suspicious activity as it happens. The network supports the use of WiFi-enabled handhelds to allow TOC staff to send or receive silent alarm messages / images for passenger incidents that may be dealt with by authorities at the next stopping station. Other specifically anti-terrorism technologies, such as chemical sniffers and radiation detectors, can also be combined into the system. On large metro or suburban rail systems there is an emphasis on providing train staff with video coverage of the next station. In North America and parts of Asia there is a focus on advanced warning of problems at approaching road crossings. The Nomad video system is ideal for both situations and can also be used to cover maintenance crews working on the right-of-way. TRAIN DATA-RECORDERExisting train data systems contain a wealth of data but it can be expensive and time-consuming to turn recorded data into useful management information. The Nomad network allows automated and frequent download of such data from trains and also provides the "back office" storage and processing. This ensures that meaningful data can be collated in a consistent and cost-effective way. PASSENGER COUNTINGNomad Digital’s network allows your passenger counting technology, whether by door mounted counters, video analysis or suspension load measurement, to provide data that works for you and reduces the cost of providing this information to the regulator. In the UK passenger counting is required on 10% of all trains. PAYMENT CARD PROCESSINGReduce the costs of secure validation of on-board payments by using Nomad’s network. By clearing payments in real-time the incidence of charge-backs and fraud will be reduced. On-train WiFi connectivity can be used with real-time, Chip&PIN authorisation units to reduce card fraud and revenue loss AUTOMATED DRIVER-PERFORMANCE MONITORINGNomad Automated Driver-Performance Monitoring (ADPM) monitors the performance of drivers and automatically brings the information required to the place it is needed. The ADPM stores the information and builds up a statistical database such that an accurate picture of driver performance can be built up, over repeated journeys under a range of conditions. VOIP AND PICOCELL MODULESMany passengers want to make phone calls when they are on the train. If mobile phone reception on the train isn’t good enough then business travellers have a strong incentive to travel by car. Now Nomad technology allows passengers to get excellent mobile phone performance on the train. Nomad installs a small, lower power, base station (‘pico-cell’) on the train. Instead of the passenger’s mobile phone connecting to huge mobile phone masts near the railway, calls are then routed to the outside world through the Nomad IP network.
