KeTech - Station CCTV Surveillance and Security Systems

KeTech Systems is a recognised market leader in the development and delivery of retail telecommunications for the transportation sector. The KeTech portfolio of systems has been specifically developed for rail and underground station environments, and provides innovative solutions that offer an excellent combination of performance and value for money.

Rail and underground station CCTV surveillance and security systems

Having worked extensively for a number of years in the transport sector KeTech Systems has expert knowledge and experience in the design and implementation of CCTV surveillance and security systems for rail and underground stations.

KeTech fully understands railway guidelines, standards and special coverage requirements that must be applied in these special surroundings, taking moving vehicles, passengers and railway staff into consideration to provide a safe operational and public environment.

Integrated station management and security system

To be fully functional, stations require many control systems. The new KeTech integrated management and security system (KIMSS) is an IP-based communication and integration system with an intuitive user interface.

By interfacing to multiple subsystems, this fully flexible system allows the operator to seamlessly switch between CCTV, PA, customer information systems, help points and SCADA monitoring and enables the functionality of one subsystem to be triggered or controlled by actions in another. Currently used by the British Transport Police to monitor CCTV images from over 100 London Underground stations, navigation to and around each station is provided via detailed 3D maps showing the location of cameras. From these maps, cameras may be selected to be viewed on the local operator workstation or switched to a monitor or video wall.

Platform-to-train CCTV transmission system

The ability to monitor the platform, track and vehicle interfaces is critical to providing a safe departure on driver-only-operated trains.

Using leaky feeder technology, KeTech's state-of-the-art platform-to-train (PtT) multi-channel CCTV transmission system enables pictures from cameras located on the platform to be transmitted to the train cab, providing a real-time view of the critical platform / train interface. With a proven history on London Underground's Jubilee and Victoria Lines, this robust, proven technology is licence-exempt and has LUL and HMRI approval.

Customer information system

KeTech Systems has designed and developed a true multi-modal customer information system (CIS).

Based on open standards, KeTech's CIS meets all the requirements of a modern information system, while retaining the flexibility to seamlessly interface to virtually all legacy display systems.

With no annual licence fee, the CIS is suitable for both manned and unmanned stations and provides centralised timetable processing, an automatic mode to provide information without the need for operator intervention, a fully manual mode facility, and multiple use of the display screen.

Train operator multi-functional displays

KeTech's train operator multi-functional displays (TMD) offer an innovative solution to the provision of critical train-running information.

Based on LCD technology, the durable TMD has been designed to meet the harsh operating environments of both underground / metro systems and over-ground heavy rail. The free-format multi-functional display offers a degree of configurability and flexibility in design.

Interfacing with the train-management system, the train operator's display provides the vehicle's status, speed and other vital information including route position - all presented in plain, easy-to-interpret language.

Station public address systems

KeTech staff have many years' experience in the design and implementation of public address systems for rail and underground stations.

Acoustic modelling and RASTI measurements can be provided to develop a PA design that suits the harsh environment of a railway station. This can include ambient noise sensing and loudspeaker monitoring for controlled announcements. Our approach ensures that whilst announcements can be heard on platforms, there is no sound pollution to neighbouring areas. To complement the range, KeTech has also launched a wireless PA system which takes a line level audio signal from the local controller and transmits it to the receiver located in the speakers installed along the platforms or in the concourse areas.

The key advantages of this type of system are that it requires no along-platform cabling, no cross-track cabling and no in-cabinet wiring, resulting in significant cost and time savings and limited operational disruption during installation.
