Tracksure - On the Right Track at Railtex

22 February 2007 11:11

First time attendees at the show, Tracksure officially launched its patented nut locking device at Railtex in February. Developed to prevent bolts from self-loosening through vibration, the device received a high level of interest from across the globe.

Tracksure's MD, Gerhard Dodl, said, "We were really overwhelmed by the sheer number and quality of visitors that we had to the stand. This is the first time that we have exhibited at Railtex, and a number of potential clients from USA, France, Japan and Spain approached us - from distributors wanting to stock the device to infrastructure managers wanting to trial it. Railtex 07 was a huge success for us and a great platform from which to launch our new product".

Tracksure's device is comprised of three components: a modified bolt with a reverse thread at the end, a locking nut and a serrated locking cap. The locking nut is fitted to the reverse thread and tightened against the original nut using a conventional wrench. The locking cap is then pushed firmly over both components and remains in place due to a spring clip. The locking nut will automatically tighten against the original nut should it start to loosen even microscopically, locking it firmly in place and maintaining a secure fixing.

The patented technology behind this product is both ingenious and very simple. The nut locking device can be used with many different track and rolling stock applications such as crossings, temporary joints, turnouts, rail clamps and insulated joints, buffers, and brake systems. Dodl said, "Our product offers a significant safety and maintenance benefit to operators, the public and those responsible for track and rolling stock maintenance."
