RMC New Factory for Railway Crossing Bearers

RMC Rail Products have commissioned a new factory at Somercotes in Derbyshire to manufacture pre-stressed crossing bearers for the rail industry. This follows two years of sales success for RMC in this area, resulting in their becoming the market leader, with a 60% market share.
The increasing demand for the product, primarily from switch and crossing manufacturers, has prompted this move to a new factory. Production of pre-stressed crossing bearers at RMC’s new plant is expected to reach 60,000 linear metres this year, growing to 100,000 linear metres next.
The factory at Somercotes will create around twenty-five new jobs. The building in which the factory is housed was previously owned by another pre-cast concrete manufacturer, however the entire crossing bearer production process has been recently installed by RMC.
RMC Rail Products also manufacture a wide range of pre-stressed concrete sleepers, cable troughing, platform systems and other ancillary products. A complete catalogue is available on request.
