Primix - Engineered Composite Sleepers / Ties

Primix Corporation, founded in 1996, is the exclusive patent holder for a unique composite railroad tie / sleeper.

PRIMIX RAILROAD TIE / SLEEPER

The Primix composite tie is constructed with industry materials commonly used for railway sleepers but it incorporates a totally revolutionary design and construction.

Concrete is blended with high-strength steel and these materials are encased in a sleeve of rubber and plastic. Thus the Primix composite sleeper or tie combines all the benefits of a wood tie with the strengths of concrete and steel.

PROTECTIVE PLASTIC AND RUBBER SLEEPER SLEEVE

The unique Primix sleeve coating is manufactured from recycled tires and blow-molded plastic waste material. This coating provides the inner material with an insulating barrier against moisture penetration. It is also impervious to insect infestation and four times more resistant to tie-plate cutting than wooden sleepers.

The rubber and plastic protective sleeve also protects the concrete from moisture loss and, when fabricated with Primax’s proprietary screw spike blocks, it has four times the spike retention of a traditional wooden tie.

CUSTOMIZABLE PREMIX RAILROAD TIE / SLEEPER

The Primix composite sleeper does not require the leaching of chemical treatments that wooden sleepers need and thus it eliminates environmental hazards. The Primix tie / sleeper is 7in high, 9in wide and 8ft 6in long. It can be manufactured in a wide range of lengths up to 28ft, according to customer specifications. Other benefits of Primix’s unique railroad tie include its inflammability and its imperviousness to many acidic environments.

Primix is the first tie to offer a railroad tie / sleeper that can accept any type of rail attachment systems currently being offered.

LARGE MANUFACTURING CAPABILITY

Primix Corporation has currently established manufacturing licensees for its railroad tie product in North America with Dynamic Composites, (a subsidiary of Steel Dynamics Corporation) Columbia City, IN, USA. The company also has a joint venture licensee in Qingdao, China, Qingdao Primix Investment Corporation. These facilities are capable of producing 320,000 ties or sleepers each. Each of these new facilities was designed to manufacture up to 1,000,000 ties.

Primix International, Inc has been established to facilitate sales and marketing outside the North American and Chinese markets. Prospective distribution centers in major foreign markets are being considered at this time.
