Chile is rehabilitating the old Arica to Visviri Railway, in the Chile-Bolivia border.
The construction and maintenance of this railway infrastructure is part of the Peace and Friendship Agreement signed by Chile and Bolivia almost 25 years after the end of 1879 war.
The rehabilitating contract was awarded to the construction company COMSA DE CHILE. The project will involve an investment of $29m, starting works in March 2011 and lasting 22 months.
The 70,000 sleepers needed for this important project will be supplied by Mardones BPB Creosote Treaters.
