WOODEN SLEEPERS

We have a large stock of various timber species available, mainly in beech, oak and pine. We can deliver the main dimensions and lengths used in the railway industry.

Our sleepers can be ordered ready to be installed, including adzing, drilling, grooving and the necessary baseplate fitting with additional materials to fix all rails. We can offer anti splitting devices like nail plates.

CROSSING TIMBERS

Offered in timber species of oak and the dimensions depend on demand.

CREOSOTE

According to latest European Regulations we offer our customers creosoted sleepers in accordance with W.E.I.-standard Type B and C with a bencopyrene content of less than 50ppm.

We are working on new techniques to make the "old" product sleepers, which have been manufactured by almost the same process for decades, more attractive again.

THE NEW WOOD PRESERVATIVE "CREOSOTE EC 265"

One of these new techniques is the new "Creosote EC 265". The concept of development was the fact that when reducing the amount of Creosote in emulsion systems, these weaknesses must be compensated by introducing appropriate co-biocides. Quaternary ammonium compounds (QAC) are showing excellent efficacy against Lentinus lepideus and they offer additional emulsifier properties helping to build a stable creosote emulsion in water.

A blend of creosote, modified linseed oil with surface active properties and a halogen free QAC was developed by Swiss LONZA AG and is actually tested in practice.

Properties of Creosote EC 265 compared to standard creosote:

• Significant improvement of dose/efficacy-ratio
• Reduced problems with occupational health due to the reduced creosote comment
• Reduced environmental impact due to the reduced creosote content
• Reduced smell of treated wood
• Reduced superficial sticking effects (no tearing of creosote in service)
• Reduced staining of treated wood
• Treatment can be performed in common pressure plants like water-based preservatives
• Treatment can be performed without heating: significant reduction of energy consumption
• No problems with post-treatment application of stains and varnishes
• Good efficacy against wood destroying insects, including termites

Properties of Creosote EC 265 compared to other preservatives:

• EC 265 doesn't contain metals and halogens
• EC 265 as concentrate as well as the treatment solution shows no corrosive effects
• EC 265 shows nearly no leaching effects
• The penetration of EC 265 is very deep and homogenous
• Fixation takes place within several hours
• No problems with the disposal of waste wood after service life

Meanwhile Creosote EC 265 is patented worldwide.

RECYCLING, CERTIFIED FROM TÜV RHEINLAND/BERLIN-BRANDENBURG

We do not wish to restrict our service for the customers by simply supplying sleepers. Therefore we have decided to assist our customers in the entire range of services all the way to disposal/utilisation of our products.

Our Environmental Management System has been validated in 1999 according to EU-VO 1863/93.
