VIBRATION ATTENUATING, DIRECT FIXATION TRACK FASTENERSThe Egg track fastener is a special, vibration attenuating track fastener, appropriate for direct fixation environments - at grade, aerial structures and tunnels. The Egg owes its superior acoustical performance and excellent maintenance record to its unique design. Vertical forces are cushioned, as rubber is placed in shear when the Egg deflects under load from passing trains. The Egg is specifically designed to reduce ground-borne vibration, the cause of secondary noise in buildings neighbouring transit tracks. LATERAL INTEGRITY AND VERTICAL SOFTNESSThe Egg consists of two components - the top plate and the frame - bonded together with elastomer. The rail rests on the oval top plate. The side surface of the top plate is angled with respect to the vertical. There is a corresponding angled oval surface built into the outer containment frame that supports the top plate, and also houses the anchor boltholes. The top plate is suspended on a bed of elastomer, which bonds it to the mating angled surface of the frame. This allows the top plate to float and geometry dictates that vertical forces be transmitted largely in shear and only partially in compression. This is perhaps the single, most significant feature leading to the unique, acoustical effectiveness of the Egg design. The geometry of the Egg also provides fail-safe maintenance of track gauge. Thus, the Egg design creates the vital combination of lateral integrity and vertical softness. Reacting to overload or in the unlikely event of elastomer failure, the top plate sinks further and further into the nest provided by the frame. As it does lateral stability is not only maintained but is increased - a huge safety benefit, particularly on curves. The Egg design has been modified to produce the Egg for guard and restraining rail, which is similar to the original Egg except that it has increased rail seat dimension to accommodate the guardrail assembly, and the Egg for turnouts. TRACK FASTENERS FOR TRANSIT AND COMMUTER RAIL SYSTEMSThe Trackmaster track fastener is specifically intended to provide transit and commuter rail systems with a greater range of options between single or dual vertical stiffness as well as lateral stiffness, and a fail-safe track fastener design. The load is transferred from the top plate directly through the elastomer to the support surface under the track fastener. This yields maximum flexibility in varying vertical stiffness, as well as the benefits brought about through the possibility of incorporating dual, or even multiple, stiffness. Even in the unlikely event of partial, or even total, bond failure between the rubber and metal parts, the top plate upon which the running rail rests is positively contained, both laterally and longitudinally. ELECTRICAL ISOLATION AND VIBRATION ATTENUATIONThe Whisper Rail (W / R) is designed to achieve maximum reduction of ground-borne vibration while providing excellent electrical isolation. It is intended for use in those sensitive portions of the transit system that require noise and vibration attenuation. The W / R is the first rail system to combine self-contained resilience, electrical isolation and dramatic vibration attenuation. These advantages provide the option for bolted or boltless construction as well as less wear and tear on rolling stock and confinement of stray current. Embedded W / Rs also offer the advantage of preserving the road surface. REDUCING VIBRATION TRANSMISSION AND BALLAST DEGRADATIONATP also produce ballast mats to reduce vibration transmission from ballasted tracks. ATP's ballast mats provide excellent reduction of ground-borne vibrations and reduce ballast degradation. In situations where the ballast depth is restricted, ballast mats can provide compensation. ATP's ballast mats can support axles weighing up to 40t.
