Scott Wilson Railways Celebrates New Swindon Office
20 April 2005 10:37
In response to rapid expansion, multidisciplinary consultant Scott Wilson has opened a new larger office in Swindon. The company's Railways Division celebrated the opening of the new office at Newbridge Square on 13th April 2005, with a reception for local clients.
"The evening was an excellent opportunity to network with local clients and key contacts within the local business community," said Richard Jones, Director of Operations who is based in Swindon. The new office houses teams involved in Civil and Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Operations and Planning, Permanent Way, Railway Electrification, Railway Systems, Signalling and Telecommunications and International Projects.
The relocation of Scott Wilson's Swindon office follows the rapid expansion of the company, with in excess of 200 rail professionals in Swindon and 400 around the UK with Railways focused offices now also situated in Birmingham, Crewe, Glasgow, London and York. This growth is in response to existing demand from clients and the expanding railway market both in the UK and overseas - where British expertise is in great demand.
The Swindon office is currently involved in many projects both in the UK and abroad. Recent design commissions include key aspects of the major multi-disciplinary project West Coast Route modernisation and studies in support of the Crossrail scheme in London.
In joint venture with Greek partner OMETE AE, Scott Wilson Railways was awarded the contract to prepare the design and tender documents for extensions to the metro system. Having completed the first phase of design for Attiko Metro on time and budget, the consultant has recently been commissioned for additonal work.
