Scott Wilson Railways, in joint venture with TSDI, have been commissioned as consultants for the Heife – Xi’an project. This project, supported and financed by the Asian Development Bank, involves the construction of a new 954km singe line railway between the cities of Hefei and Xi’an in Central China. The purpose of the line is to generate economic development, both by easing congestion on the existing routes and by stimulating development in a number of districts on the line of the route.
Scott Wilson Railways and TSDI have been commissioned to develop options and strategy for passenger and freight marketing and assist in the development of project management skills to successfully deliver the project in accordance with overall objectives. A survey of potential freight customers currently using the route and impact of its construction also need to be undertaken. The project will run from December 2004 through to June 2005.
