Operations and Planning Unit Continues to Grow

In 2002, Mark Roome, a Senior Operations Specialist with over 25 years of professional experience in the rail industry, joined Scott Wilson Railways to manage the new Operations and Planning Unit, operating from Swindon and London. In 2005, this unit has grown to 16 operations specialists based in Birmingham, Glasgow, London, Swindon and York.

There have been three recent recruits to the team, Graham Hewett in October, Ian Lake in November and George Bryden in December 2004. Graham specialises in rail strategy and policy, franchising and Institutional Reform. An internationally experienced consultant, Graham has worked in senior positions for Governments, operators and finance house on franchise programmes and on the development of strategies for rail services. Ian has joined the team as an Operations Analyst. He brings to the team key skills in railway planning and rolling stock utilisation. George has 14 years of operational experience in the rail industry, with particular expertise in new system development and light rail and metro operations.

The team are currently working on a diverse range of projects such as operational modelling for Crossrail hybrid bill scheme, Glasgow Crossrail, Thameslink Progamme, Cricklewood redevelopment, Waverley Route Parliamentary submission, Thailand Korat high-speed rail feasibility study, and planning for the proposed China Hefei - Xian route.
