Established in 1995, following the privatisation of British Rail, MTR Training has progressed to be the UK’s premier independent training provider within the rail industry.

Within the Rail Industry, MTR Training is a full member of the Rail Industry Council (RTIC) and the Association of Railway Training Providers (ARTP). The company has been certified by Achilles, licensed by Network Rail to ensure that high standards of training are provided to the rail Industry.

TRACK SAFETY

MTR can deliver training from PTS to SPICOP as well as carrying out the required workplace assessments.

CITB / CPCS TRAINING

MTR is able to offer over 25 courses relating to CPCS training, from basic introductions through to tracked loading shovel courses. Our courses cover:

• Tracked and tyred road / rail excavators
• Telescopic handlers
• Wheeled loading shovels
• Dozers
• Dumpers
• Slinger banksman

RAILWAY HEALTH AND SAFETY TRAINING

MTR offer a portfolio of railway health and safety training courses, including courses on manual handling, fire awareness, first aid, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health and Reporting Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR).

We also provide IOSH courses for both managers and supervisors, and training for the NEBOSH general certificate.

SIGNALLING AND TELECOMS TRAINING

MTR are able to offer comprehensive training from Basic Signaling Appreciation (BSA) to Signal Maintenance Testing Handbook (SMTH), as well as all the Signal Works Testing (SWT) modules.

ASSESSOR AND NVQ PROGRAMMES

MTR are proud to offer programmes with both City & Guilds and OCR as awarding bodies. Candidates can work towards either assessor awards or programmes that will demonstrate their individual competence in the workplace. Awards are available in plant maintenance, plant operations, traction and rolling stock maintenance, and railway operations, including shunting, driving and control room functions.

TRACTION AND ROLLING STOCK COURSES

We offer a range of traction and rolling stock courses including vehicle maintenance instruction, vehicle systems training, axle bearing maintenance courses, apprentice training to NVQ and competence management assessments.

RAIL OPERATOR AND MAINTENANCE TRAINING

MTR is able to offer operator and maintenance training at our approved training centers throughout the country or at a clients own venue. The training offered includes:

• Rail-Mounted Maintenance Machines (RMMMs)
• On-Track Machines (OTM)
• HTT stone blowers
• Track Quality Supervisor (TQS)
• Technical courses including machine foundation training

MACHINE / CRANE CONTROLLER TRAINING

MTR is approved to deliver machine / crane controller training as part of the sentinel scheme. The range of training offered includes all competencies and categories of machine covered by the scheme. Approved Training Centers for the machines are located in Bristol, Ruddington (Notts), Chasewater (Cannock), Bo'ness, Scotland and West Drayton (London) .
