Competency, Assessment & Training Services (CATS) is a specialist organisation that provides training, assessment and consultancy services for the rail industry.

Rail safety worker competency assessments

CATS provides rail safety worker competency assessments in accordance with national rail safety laws, and develops competency tracking tools that comply with Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO) regulations.

Since 2011, the CATS organisation has extensive experience in security and has specialised in the rail industry. Our assessors have worked with Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) in Australia to provide rail safety worker assessments according to Rail Safety National Law NSW 2012 and the requirements of the TfNSW safety management system.

Consultancy and training for rail safety workers

In addition to TfNSW, CATS has built an enduring relationship with a number of design houses and architectural firms to provide rail safety worker assessments and authorised engineering consultancy services.

CATS is a subsidiary of Dawn Alliance, which provides consultancy services for the rail, road, maritime and air industries.

The company offers AEO Accreditation consultancy services.

CATS also offers work safety and security consultancy services, as well as risk assessments and first-aid training.

In-house training includes standard operating procedure and work instructions, as well as the development of learning activity workbooks (LAW), workshops and programmes.

Qualified training, security and safety assessors for the railway industry

CATS’ assessors hold training and assessment (TAE 40110) qualifications and have extensive experience in evaluating high-risk areas, including rail safety, white card training, corrections, cash-in transition, and static and dynamic security.

The company has been accredited with the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety and Certificate IV in Security Risk Assessment.
