Norgren develops innovative, modular-vacuum flushed toilet systems. Our flushed toilet systems are easily connected and environmentally friendly, and they use minimal water when flushing. This enables our customers to market a more cost-effective product with improved performance.

DOOR-STEP CYLINDERS

UNCOUPLING CYLINDERS

Norgren’s new uncoupling systems improve the performance of the train’s uncoupling cylinder significantly. Having been awarded full certification by train operators, this reflects the confidence these safety conscious companies have in Norgren.

PANTOGRAPH CONTROL SYSTEMS

Norgren designs, manufactures and delivers pneumatic systems that attach to the pantograph and retract it from making contact with the overhead power cables when required.

Norgren’s solutions enable the pantograph to be withdrawn from the overhead power cables quickly and reliably. Norgren’s solutions are small enough to fit within the existing footprint of the pantograph giving customers a cost-effective design.

All Norgren’s door systems easily surpass the 30 minute fire barrier requirement, and do not allow passenger entrapment. They are reliable, safe and competitive, using a range of proven Norgren pneumatic products that are easy to maintain and replace.

OIL CARRY-OVER SYSTEM

The engine-driven air compressor utilised on rail vehicles is known to pass significant amounts of oil and carbon deposits into the compressed air systems. Various initiatives have been undertaken in the past to try and reduce the problem of oil carry-over, however systems have continued to suffer in service problems.

Norgren invented the automatic airline lubricator in 1929. Due to the expertise and experience, Norgren engineers have a deep understanding of air preparation problems in many industry sectors and rail is a particular speciality. During several customer visits the problems were discussed and identified.

Following on from these visits Norgren engineers proposed a new oil carry-over system that compromises four filter units from its tried and tested Olympian range.

IMPROVEMENT IN PARTICULATE REMOVAL

Norgren’s new oil carry-over system has already been fitted to vehicles throughout the UK for rigorous testing. The owners and operators of these vehicles have reported a significant improvement in particulate removal which has resulted in improvements in reliability.

There is also the added advantage that the Olympian airline equipment is already in use on many railway vehicles and therefore has a deserved reputation of being robust and reliable in operation. This leads to low installation and maintenance costs.
