Joptek Composites has been awarded the railway industry’s IRIS certification, the international railway vehicles adhesive bonding certificate DIN 6701-2 Class A2 and international railway industry welding certificates EN 15085-2 and EN 3834-2.

Joptek Composites received the international railway vehicles adhesive bonding certificate DIN 6701-2 Class A2 on the basis of an audit carried out by TC-Kleven. The international railway industry welding certificates EN 15085-2 and EN 3834-2 were received based on an audit carried out by Inspecta Inspection.The certificates are to ensure safety and traceability for supply of components and subassemblies in the operation of rail transport.

Managing director Aku Lampola said: "Safety and traceability are the key customer requirements for systems and subassemblies we supply for the rail traffic industry. Having now achieved the international railway industry welding certification, verifies that our actions contribute to fill in this respect international railway industry requirements. Achieved certification is important proof of our continuous development and our ability to meet customer requirements. In practice, it allows for the expansion of system deliveries."

Joptek Composites was awarded IRIS certification in June 2011. Prior to that, it had been exceeding ISO 9001- and ISO 14001 -standard’s quality end environment requirements. The International Railway Industry Standard (IRIS) is defined by UNIFE in co-operation with operators, system integrators and equipment manufacturers such as Bombardier Transportation, Siemens Transportation Systems, Alstom Transportation and AnsaldoBreda.
