Commissioned by Dutch and foreign operators, NedTrain ensures that trains are safe and clean and that they keep on running. ROLLING STOCK AND TRAIN DESIGN AND CONSULTANCY SERVICES

NedTrain is involved right from the initial design phase of a new train, as it will carry out the maintenance and is therefore the definitive expert. The newest technology and systems are included in the design. Thus during maintenance a high level of reliability can be achieved at the lowest possible cost. Once the design of the train is approved, the builder can begin. NedTrain supervises the building process on behalf of the owner. A consultant monitors the production process step-by-step, carrying out tests and inspections for quality control.

Once the building process has been completed, a test run is made. Here again the process is firmly under NedTrain's control. The equipment is first carefully inspected on the outside and then multiple tests are carried out during the test run. NedTrain Consulting is officially recognised by the Ministry for Transport, Public Works and Water Management as a Notified Body. It can therefore approve and admit the train to the rail network if everything is found to be in order.

24/7 TRAIN AND LOCOMOTIVE MAINTENANCE

NedTrain provides active and preventative maintenance to trains and locomotives. The rolling stock's performance is continually monitored and improved, striving for the highest possible level of reliability and availability for the lowest possible cost. NedTrain engineers are on standby 24 hours a day to serve the transport operators.

NedTrain does this maintenance outside of rush hours without disturbing the train schedules, facilitating the optimal deployment of rolling stock by the transport operators. Short-term maintenance is carried out at more than 30 locations in the Netherlands. There are exactly enough parts in stock at the central stores for this maintenance. Parts used in a local store are replenished just in time, using an advanced computer system.

COMPLETE ROLLING STOCK OVERHAUL

About halfway through its lifecycle, a train or locomotive is given a complete overhaul. During this major overhaul the rolling stock is inspected from top to toe, parts are repaired or replaced and new, modern technology is installed. As soon as the train enters the workshop the carriages are separated from the bogies. The carriages are then transported in the maintenance sheds on a modern aircushion transportation system. The train is completely overhauled.
