ON-BOARD PASSENGER TRAIN SUBSYSTEMS

Living in today's information society has accustomed us to quick and easy access to information – anywhere, anytime. Information is important to travellers because it contributes to feeling secure and at ease. When travelling, passengers want to be able to plan and take action, e.g. in case of delays.

In order to help our customers provide a high service level and eventually win market shares, Axion Technologies offers full range passenger information systems, seat reservation systems and surveillance solutions.

PILON+ – RAIL PASSENGER INFORMATION SYSTEM

Based on a non-proprietary philosophy, we have prepared and strengthened our role as a system integrator by introducing PILON+ – a Passenger Information System (PIS) based on the well-known LONWorks communication standard, which has been proven in practice for many years.

PILON+ meets the rising demand for increased standardisation and opens the way for increased system integration.

Due to the modular system design based on standard solutions and a high degree of scalability, we are able to meet individual customer requirements for both new train and refurbishment projects.

PILON integrates easily with other on-board subsystems such as CCTV and passenger count systems. The wide range of functionalities can be integrated in the initial design or simply added at a later stage.

• Editing system software – enables recording, route planning and maintenance of timetables, etc.

CCTV ON-BOARD TRAINS FOR RAILWAY SAFETY MANAGEMENT

Increasing violence and vandalism as well as technological development – e.g. driverless trains – are a challenge to safety management requirements. Therefore, future safety management is not only a question of increasing the number of security guards.

Installation of an on-board video surveillance system increases passenger safety and comfort. In addition, it has proved to be a preventive measure against violence and vandalism and has led to reduced repair costs for the operators, who often struggle with tight budgets.

Our video surveillance systems enable transmission of real-time pictures to, for example, the cab or a control centre. Depending on system configuration, data can be stored for a required period of time – for later use in legal matters for instance.

Full system integration with PILON+ or a third-party passenger information system can also be achieved: for instance, the signal of a passenger alarm unit can be integrated with the CCTV system. This ensures the awareness of the personnel, and immediate action can be taken.
