ELECTROLUMINESCENT DISPLAYS

Planar's EL displays endure harsh environments – from freezing cold to near boiling hot – and high vibration. These qualities, enabled by the thin-film EL technology used in Planar EL displays, make the displays perfect for applications at rail stations and in trains.

RUGGED ELECTROLUMINESCENT DISPLAYS

Good contrast and a wide viewing-angle are the basic features of EL technology, while it is its ruggedness and wide temperature-range that would convince an engineer to use EL as the display for their design. EL displays are simultaneously visually impressive and easy to read, endure the rigors of vibration and freezing temperatures, and switch on instantly under all circumstances.

Planar's electroluminescent displays include a solid state glass panel, an electronic control circuit and a power supply. The result of this solid state design is a compact, reliable and rugged display with exceptionally fast response time (<1ms).

AMLCD AND LCD RAIL PASSENGER INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Planar's AMLCD and LCD product ranges are suitable for on-train and at-station passenger information systems, as well as for ticketing kiosks at stations. Planar also provides customized LCD solutions in different sizes, an example of which is our 'outside the train' passenger information system, which displays the carriage number, destination, etc. on the side of the carriage.

TRANSFLECTIVE MONITOR WITH OPTIONAL TOUCHSCREEN

LX1200 AMLCD monitors are 12in, sunlight readable, rugged, open standard, touch monitors for in-vehicle use. Transflective display technology utilized in these sunlight readable monitors improves at-a-glance readability, thus improving driver safety at both day and night.

Transflective LCD technology combines both backlit transmissive operation mode and a reflective mode. The display maintains excellent viewability over a wide range of ambient illumination conditions from night time to sunlight. As ambient illumination levels increase, the display's brightness is increased using the rear reflector, and required image and color contrast is maintained.

There are two models of transflective monitors: the LX1200TI with XGA resolution (RoHS compliant), and the LX1200TR with SVGA resolution (non-RoHS compliant).

AMLCD DISPLAYS

Planar's AMLCD range includes bright and easy-to-read displays for indoor and outdoor kiosk applications. They possess sunlight readable monitors for outdoor use, and are available in various sizes for indoor applications. They also have touchscreen options.

Examples of applications for Planar AMLCDs include station indicators and train displays; retail or point-of-sale locations; ticketing machines; ATMs; and drive-through services.
