Mitron Group Oy announced today the acquisition of the railway business of HNC GmbH located in Mittenaar, Germany. Mitron and HNC have been cooperating in the German market before, and this acquisition is the next logical step of the successful partnership. The acquisition implements Mitron Group's internationalisation strategy to operate close to the customers and to have a committed local presence in the group's focus area. The purchase will complement Mitron's engineering know-how and product portfolio mainly with the train sensors. The agreement will come into effect on 1st of July 2009.
As part of the acquisition process, Mitron Group has established a subsidiary company Mitron Information Systems GmbH. Mitron Oy previously had a project office in Herborn Germany, which has now been closed, and Mitron Information Systems GmbH will operate in Mittenaar in the old premises of HNC. Mitron Information Systems is responsible for local customerships, sales, project management and after sales in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The local activities of Mitron Information Systems will be supported by Mitron Group. Mitron Information Systems will also continue co-operation with the old railway customers HNC GmbH. Mitron Information Systems offers employment to five employees of HNC GmbH. Mr Frank Holzapfel, the former owner and CEO of HNC GmbH, has been appointed the position of chief executive officer of Mitron Information Systems GmbH.
