Holding Company to Support Mitron's Internationalisation Strategy

01 July 2009

The Board of Directors of Mitron Oy has decided to establish a holding company Mitron Group Oy that will support Mitron's internationalisation strategy. Mitron Group Oy consists of Mitron Oy and other subsidiary companies that are located in Europe close to the customers. The subsidiaries are working locally taking into account the local customer requirements and needs while the group in its entirety operates globally. The parent company Mitron Group Oy oversees the strategic functions of the group covering finance, technologies and customerships. The subsidiaries are responsible for local customerships and sales, project management and after sales.

Mitron Oy has already been transferred to be a subsidiary company of the group. Mitron Oy continues its current business and is widely responsible for stationary and mobile systems product lines, as well as supply chain management.

Mitron Group Oy is owned by the same owners as Mitron Oy and Mitron Electronics Oy. Mitron Group and Mitron Oy also have the same board: Heino Ruottinen, chairman of the board and CEO of Mitron Group Oy, Juha Siitonen, CEO of Mitron Oy, Erkki Pasonen and Hannu Turunen. Technology director Dr Jussi Järventö and sales director Kimmo Ylander will move from Mitron Oy to Mitron Group Oy. Juha Strandbeg, former key account manager of Mitron Oy, will replace Mr Ylander as Mitron Oy's business unit director of Stationary Systems while Hannu Hurme acts as Mitron Oy's business unit director of Mobile Systems.

Mitron's vision is to be the European leading passenger information system supplier to the railway industry. The group's mission is to enable the users of public transportation services to find their way easily, comfortably, on-time and safely. Mitron Group's growth is based on organic business development and acquisitions in those countries where the current customerships or the expansion of the customer base by acquisitions offer significant growth potential. Establishment of Mitron Group will also create synergy benefits that arise while the customers both locally and globally can be served with a wider selection of products and services.
