Mitron Supplies Over 800 TFT Displays for Trams and Metros in Helsinki

Mitron Oy has announced today that it has signed a contract with JCDecaux Finland Oy for the supply of over 800 20in wide-screen TFT displays. The TFT displays will be installed on all trams and metros in Helsinki, Finland operated by Helsinki City Transport. The new displays will be used to offer real-time passenger information, news and commercial advertisements to the passengers. According to the agreement, installations of the displays will take place during this year.

Mitron's new 20in TFT display is railway approved and thus an excellent choice for any public transport vehicle including trains, trams, metros and buses. The TFT display offers high brightness and superior visibility in all viewing angles with automatic brightness control. The display has a vandal proof design and it is equipped with hardened front glass. Data communication of the TFT display is based on Ethernet or wireless WLAN depending on customers' requirements. The TFT displays can be used to present different kinds of passenger and commercial information including text, animation, pictures and videos.
