Mitron Oy, a leading supplier of public transport information systems, recently announced a new passenger information display type for city traffic applications.
The new display has an internal battery and doesn't require continuous power feed from an electricity network. The display can also be equipped with an optional solar panel - a totally independent power supply which saves on energy as well as time and installation costs.
The display is highly reflective and can operate without a backlight during the day, resulting in low power consumption. Several wireless transmission technologies such as GPRS, 3G and WLAN can be used for data transfer. Intelligent self diagnostics and remote control guarantee the display a long life time and low life cycle costs. The display also provides the option of a text-to-speech function.
