FOCON•NET: INTEGRATED PASSENGER INFORMATION SYSTEM

The Focon•Net passenger information system is the next generation platform that lets you fully integrate passenger information with interactive communication, entertainment and video surveillance systems.

The system can be tailor-made to the customer's requirements. It can be as simple as a basic display and PA loudspeaker package, or an advanced system that links reservation systems, monitors and information centres and integrated infotainment systems in each coach.

The modular system architecture allows flexible possibilities for expansion, and enables an organised communication network between the system and the following peripheral units:

• The platform, which supports Focon's class-leading display and information systems
• Fully digital emergency speech units and high quality internal and external loudspeakers
• A wide variety of different communication mediums, including GPS / GSM / GPRS / UHF systems, which allow voice / data transmission to and from the train

RAIL COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS

The passenger information system offers two main forms of communication.

The Passenger Announcement System enables the train driver / staff to address the passengers or staff. The information is either given directly from a microphone / handset, or from the digital voice announcer.

The emergency speech units allow half duplex speech between emergency speech units and the cab controller. If more than one speech unit is activated, the system is able to queue requests and the train driver can call them in the order of activation.

AUDIO AND FILM ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS ON-BOARD TRAINS

Focon is able to offer entertainment systems which can be incorporated in our passenger information system.

The Audiotainment system comprises an embedded FM RDS radio receiver and a digital audio player for MP3 playback.

Focon is also able to offer a DVD entertainment system which allows passengers to watch films on-board the train.

The entertainment system can combine with our Infotainment system, providing passengers with information on the next station, train destination and estimated time of arrival.

INTEGRATED RAIL CCTV SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM

Focon can offer a fully digital CCTV system to be integrated with the passenger information system. The principle purpose of the CCTV system is to provide safety for the public and to provide confidence and comfort for people on the move. Focon's CCTV can also be used in the fight against vandalism, reducing the need for expensive repairs.
