Daiken - Train Protection, Location, Control, Licensing Automation, Monitoring Systems and End of Train Devices

Daiken means excellence in applied electronic technology. We offer a wide range of locomotive automation, control and monitoring products, and supply solutions to several railways both in Brazil and abroad, providing the railway market with the best choices in operational automation and safety procedures.

We also make our expertise available to either develop new products or to customize existing ones through close cooperation with our customers. Daiken swiftly devises new solutions in accordance with the highest quality and reliable standards aiming at safer and more efficient railways.

DAIKEN OBC2-ONBOARD COMPUTER

Daiken OBC2 is an innovative low cost system based on satellite positioning with features oriented to improve and control the engineer’s handling, automate the licensing process in dark territories and aggregate instruments in the locomotive’s cabin. The system also deploys radio, satellite and GPRS as a communication system.

PROCESS AUTOMATION

With the GPS, the CCO locates the train’s position and plans its movements through dark territories or CTC territories. The OBC2 receives automatically the licenses or CTC signals and eventual restrictions and guaranties that operational rules are not violated. In case of tendency of section violation, the OBC2 activates the braking system stopping the train. The OBC2 display represents graphically the movements’ licenses or the CTC semaphores.

TRAIN HANDLING IMPROVEMENT, REMOTE SUPERVISION AND CONTROL

Improves the train handling and introduces mechanisms of control and remote supervision over it. The screen displays a graphical representation of the railroad segments, curves, topography, notable points (bridges, CTC signals, level crossings, kilometer markings, and other points considered important by the railway).

Based on the operational rules of each railway, the OBC2 controls the train speed alerting overspeed and in case of serious rules violation, stops the train activating the braking system.

IN-CAB INSTRUMENTATION

The OBC2 onboard computer brings indispensable in-cab instruments such as speed metering, fuel consumption indication and event register. Displays the brake pipe pressure, throttle point, and other measures considered important by the railway.

POST TRIP ANALYSIS

The event register allows the data trip to be recovered in an Oracle databank. The operation management gain tools to analyze the engineer's performance, to ensure the operational rules are being observed and obtain a clear idea of which attitude must be take in place in order to optimize the train's conduction.

It also allows the railway to set operational goals towards diesel consumption reduction, in forces reduction, etc.

INTEGRITY SYSTEM - END OF TRAIN AND COMMUNICATION DISPLAY UNIT

The integrity system compounds of Integrity EOT, the End of Train telemetry, and the Integrity CDU, the in-cab Communication Display Unit.

The system presents to the train conductor the air brake pipe pression on the last car alerting immediately any change in the train integrity and allows emergency braking application.

INTEGRITY EOT (END OF TRAIN)

  • Universal coupling system
  • Daiken GEP- feeds the electronic parts and charges the battery*
  • Emergency valve
  • Movement sensor
  • Inclination sensor
  • HVM
  • Compatible with AAR standard in-cab EOT monitor system

*Daiken GEP: Electro-Pneumatic Generator. Generates potency for the electronic circuits and charges the battery:

  • Eliminates stops due to batteries recharges, allowing longer trips
  • Increases the efficiency during train composition
  • Eliminates batteries and chargers reposition and operational procedures for recharges
  • Eliminates delays due to dead batteries

INTEGRITY CDU (COMMUNICATION DISPLAY UNIT)

  • Displays brake pipe pressure
  • Compatible with AAR standard end of train system
  • Emergency brake application
  • Status of communication, HVM, battery, movement

TCS – SATELLITE COMMUNICATIONS TERMINAL

The TCS satellite communications terminal enables message exchange between the CCO and the train via Globalstar satellite.

URCA – REMOTE UNIT

The URCA remote unit is a multifunctional programmable module for remote supervision and command. It allows multiple railway application, including derailment detector device.
